Abstract

Accordingly, exemplary embodiments of an apparatus obtaining information associated with a structure can be provided. For example, with a first arrangement, it is possible to separate at least one first electro-magnetic radiation into a first radiation and a second radiation forwarded to the structure, with the first and second radiations having different path lengths. Using a second arrangement, it is possible to receive third and fourth radiations from the structure associated with the first and second radiations and a fifth radiation received from a reference. Further, with a third arrangement, it is possible to generate data corresponding to an amount of a ranging depth within the structure associated with the second arrangement. For example, a difference between the path lengths of the first and second radiations is equal or greater than the ranging depth.

Claims

1. An apparatus for obtaining information associated with a structure, comprising;

an optical first arrangement including an optical section that is configured to provide a first radiation and a second radiation that are forwarded to the structure, wherein the first and second radiations have different path lengths;

an interferometer second arrangement configured to receive third and fourth radiations from the structure associated with the first and second radiations and a fifth radiation received from a reference; and

a computer third arrangement configured to generate the information of images associated with the structure which have different delays with respect to one another based on the third, fourth and fifth radiations.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the optical section has a refractive index of at least 1.5, the optical section being structured to propagate the first and second radiations.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the optical section has silicon that is structured to propagate the first and second radiations.

4. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the optical section has an anti-reflective coating on at least one surface thereof, the optical section being structured to propagate the first and second radiations.

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the computer third arrangement is further configured to generate additional data corresponding to an amount of a ranging depth within the structure, and wherein the ranging depth is a penetration depth in the structure which includes an anatomical structure.

6. The apparatus according to claim 1,

wherein the computer third arrangement is further configured to generate:

first data associated with the first radiation which includes a first speckle pattern and second data associated with the second radiation which includes a second speckle pattern, and

third data associated with the structure based on the first and second data that has a speckle pattern the amount of which is smaller than the amount of at least one of the first speckle pattern or the second speckle pattern, and

wherein the first data, the second data and the third data are images, the third image data having a noise that is smaller than a noise of the first data and a noise of the second data.

7. The apparatus according claim 6, wherein the computer third arrangement is configured to generate the third image data based on a mathematical combination of the first and second image data.

8. The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising an optical fourth arrangement which is configured to irradiate the structure by the first irradiation at a first angle, and by the second radiation at a second angle, the first and second angles being different from one another.

9. The apparatus according to claim 8, wherein the first and second angle are different from one another as a function of a delay between the first and second radiations and at least one of a phase or an incident angle of each of the first and second radiations.

10. The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a detection arrangement which is configured to detect the first radiation, and forward the detected radiation to the interferometer second arrangement.

The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a further optical delay arrangement which includes two sections, each section being configured to delay a respective one of the first and second radiations, and wherein a delay of the first radiation is greater than a delay of the second radiation.

12. The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a further optical delay arrangement configured to receive a plurality of radiation, irradiate the structure, and delay at least one radiation of the first and second radiations with respect to one another.

13. The apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the refractive index of the optical section is at least 3.0.

14. The apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the optical section comprises an anti-reflection-coated BK 7 glass.

15. The apparatus according to claim 14, wherein the glass has a thickness of from about 1.6 mm to about 7.7 mm.

16. The apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the optical section comprises an anti-reflection-coated glass that has a refractive index of from about 1.51 to about 3.5.

17. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein a difference between the path lengths of the first and second radiations is equal or greater than a ranging depth within the structure.

18. A method for obtaining information associated with a structure, comprising;

providing a first radiation and a second radiation to the structure, wherein the first and second radiations have different path lengths;

receiving third and fourth radiations from the structure associated with the first and second radiations and a fifth radiation received from a reference; and

generating the information of images associated with the structure which have different delays with respect to one another based on the third, fourth and fifth radiations.

19. The method according to claim 18, wherein a difference between the path lengths of the first and second radiations is equal or greater than a ranging depth within the structure.
