1. A machine comprising:
- a) a courseware platform for executing courseware and comprising a first processor, wherein;
i) the courseware configures the courseware platform to perform functions comprising generating a native signal;
ii) the courseware platform is communicatively coupled to a first translation unit;
iii) the courseware platform is configured to communicate the native signal to the first translation unit;
b) the first translation unit, wherein;
i) the first translation unit comprises a second processor;
ii) the first translation unit is communicatively coupled to a simulator;
iii) the first translation unit is configured to create a control signal based on the native signal from the courseware platform; and
iv) the first translation unit is configured to communicate the control signal to the simulator;
c) the simulator, wherein;
i) the simulator comprises a third processor and a memory;
ii) the memory stores a plurality of scenarios; and
iii) the simulator is configured to activate a scenario from the plurality of scenarios based on the control signal from the first translation unit;
wherein;
A) the simulator is configured to generate a feedback signal based on interaction with a peripheral while the scenario is active;
B) the machine is configured to generate a native input signal based on the feedback signal; and
C) the machine comprises a sending component separate from the courseware platform configured to communicate the native input signal to the courseware platform.

Abstract
Simulation equipment can be integrated into courseware presented to a student using technology which, based on the native output of a system running the courseware, can generate control signals for the simulation equipment. Such signals could then be sent to the simulation equipment without requiring the designer of the courseware to create low level programming code to communicate directly with the simulation equipment itself.
