1. A method of monitoring a communication network, comprising:

  • analyzing collected data to generate gateway metrics representative of a user experience of a user-initiated communication within an Internet protocol-based integrated voice and electronic mail communication network, the network comprising a plurality of network elements, the gateway metrics comprising at least one of a number of termination attempts for a digital signal 0 channel, a number of rejected termination attempts for the digital signal 0 channel, a number of terminations answered for the digital signal 0 channel, a number of termination attempts for a hunt group, a number of rejected termination attempts for the hunt group, and a number of terminations answered for the hunt group;

    determining average upper transaction times per customer based on the collected data;

    presenting performance data metrics representative of the average upper transaction times for different geographic network service area levels in a plurality of hierarchically interrelated tabular views, the hierarchically interrelated tabular views corresponding to respective ones of the geographic network service area levels;

    receiving a selection of a first performance data metric presented in a first tabular view corresponding to a first geographic network service area level; and

    presenting a second performance data metric in a second tabular view corresponding to a second geographic network service area level in response to the selection, the first geographic network service area level representing a first geographic area, the second geographic network service area level representing a second geographic area smaller than the first geographic network service area, and the second performance data metric being presented based on the selected first performance data metric.
