1. An apparatus on a vehicle or robot for containing landmine blasts, comprising:
- a plurality of energy dissipating struts mounted to said vehicle or robot and at least one blast sandwich assembly, wherein said struts are energy absorbing and connected on one end to said vehicle or robot and on the opposite end to said blast sandwich assembly;
the blast sandwich assembly having two or more blast resistant plates with space between said plates and at least one said plate having multiple openings;
said plate openings having internally aligned ducts suitably fashioned to deflect energy;
andwherein said plates are connected at edges.
