1. A non-transitory computer readable medium for evaluating electronic templates for documents, said computer readable medium having instructions thereon, the instructions when accessed performing the method comprising:

  • selecting a task to evaluate variations of a model electronic template;

    receiving a plurality of feature vectors, one feature vector representing the model electronic template, and the remaining feature vectors representing the variations to the model electronic template;

    assigning scores to the feature vectors as a function of applying the task to the model electronic template and the variations of the model electronic template;

    learning a mapping between the scores and the feature vectors;

    evaluating the scores of the model electronic template and the variations to the model electronic template;

    evaluating correlation strengths between variations in features for the model electronic template and the variations to the model electronic template against variations in the scores for the model electronic template and the variations to the model electronic template to identify one or more features that contribute to the scores for the model electronic template and the variations to the model electronic template;

    performing a scoring operation on the model electronic template and the variations to the model electronic template based upon the task and the one or more features identified to contribute to the scores;

    selecting either the model electronic template or one of the variations to the model electronic template based upon the scores; and

    displaying the document having the selected one of the model electronic template and the one of the variations of the model electronic template.
