A system for implementing a radio over fiber (RoF) transmission in a passive optical network (PON), said passive optical network comprisinga trunk line,a remote optical node, which is connected to said trunk line, anda plurality of leaf nodes connected to said remote optical node and via said remote optical node to said trunk line, whereinone of said plurality of leaf nodes comprises a baseband processing unit for performing a baseband processing on a signal received via said trunk line and said remote optical node to perform the transformation to radio over fiber by generating a radio over fiber signal and to forward the resulting radio over fiber signal to said remote optical node, whereinsaid remote optical node is adapted to forward the radio over fiber signal received from said leaf node to the other leaf nodes of said passive optical network.

performing a baseband processing in a baseband processing unit of one of said plurality of leaf nodes on a signal received via said trunk line and said remote optical node to perform the transformation to radio over fiber by generating a radio over fiber signal; forwarding the resulting radio over fiber signal to said remote optical node, and forwarding the radio over fiber signal received from said at least one leaf node by said remote optical node to the other leaf nodes of said passive optical network. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13)
