1. An apparatus for displaying information about a calling party to a called party comprising:
- a mobile station of a telecommunications subscriber of a home network, the mobile station being present in a visited network;
means for receiving a call at the mobile station via a first path;
means for receiving information about the calling party, via a second path out of band from the first path, at the mobile station via the visited network mobile switching center (MSC), wherein the information is received at the visited network MSC independent of a home location register (HLR) of the home network, and independent of the signaling for setting up the call;
an element for presenting the information via the second path whenever a call is presented for processing by the home network, wherein the information is presented repeatedly in a configurable interval during ringing of the mobile station, the ringing associated with the call, prior to the subscriber accepting the call so the subscriber can view the information; and
a third path for providing menu information of the call to the mobile station, wherein the third path is a short message service (SMS) message.
