Abstract

Platinum and palladium complexes are disclosed that can be useful as narrow band phosphorescent emitters. Also disclosed are methods for preparing and using the platinum and palladium complexes.

1. A complex of the formula:

Ar₁ is a substituted or unsubstituted pyridinyl, isoquinolinyl, quinazolinyl, or imidazolyl ring,

Ar₂ is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl ring, and

Ar₆ is absent.

Ar₁ is a substituted or unsubstituted pyridinyl, isoquinolinyl, quinazolinyl, or imidazolyl ring,

Ar₂ is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl ring, and

Ar₆ is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl ring.
