Abstract
Systems and methods for minimizing or eliminating transient non-glucose related signal noise due to non-glucose rate limiting phenomenon such as interfering species, ischemia, pH changes, temperatures changes, known or unknown sources of mechanical, electrical and/or biochemical noise, and the like. The system monitors a data stream from a glucose sensor and detects signal artifacts that have higher amplitude than electronic or diffusion-related system noise. The system processes some or the entire data stream continually or intermittently based at least in part on whether the signal artifact event has occurred.

-
receiving continuous glucose sensor data from an electrode of a continuous glucose sensor, the continuous glucose sensor data comprising a plurality of sensor data points; measuring, using an electronic system, a reliability of the continuous glucose sensor data, whereby a level of reliability is obtained; administering, using a medicament delivery device, a medicament to a patient based on the continuous glucose sensor data applied to a first filter when the level of reliability meets a first predetermined criterion and a representation of the continuous glucose sensor data applied to a second filter when the level of reliability meets a second predetermined criterion, wherein the first filter and the second filter are different, wherein, when the continuous glucose sensor data is applied to the first filter and separately to the second filter, the first filter and second filter both modifies the continuous glucose sensor data to make the continuous glucose sensor data smoother and more continuous, or removes or diminishes outlying data points of the continuous glucose sensor data.
