The present invention provides arylpiperazine derivatives having Formula I as shown below, which can be advantageously used for treating schizophrenia and related psychoses such as acute manic, bipolar disorder, autistic disorder, and depression,

Claims

1. A compound according to Formula (1a):

14. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient or diluent.

3. The compound of claim 2, wherein each of R³-R⁸ is H.

4. The compound of claim 3, wherein each of R¹ and R² is independently H, halogen, or alkoxy.

5. The compound of claim 4, wherein R¹ is H and R² is methoxy, or R¹ and R² are chloro.

16. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 2 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient or diluent.

6. A compound according to Formula (1a):

7. The compound of claim 6, wherein each of R³-R⁸ is H.

8. The compound of claim 7, wherein each of R¹ and R² is independently H, halogen, or alkoxy.

9. The compound of claim 8, wherein R¹ is H and R² is methoxy, or R¹ and R² are chloro.

17. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 6 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient or diluent.
