Method and system of managing voice call and IP media sessions in a wireless network environment
First Claim
1. A method of managing voice call and Internet Protocol (IP) media sessions in a wireless network environment comprising:
- registering a User Equipment (UE) with a first network cell associated with a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) and a second network cell associated with a second RAT substantially simultaneously for providing voice and IP media services to the UE;
determining whether the UE is simultaneously performing a voice call session and at least one IP media session over the first network cell;
continuing, if the UE is simultaneously performing the voice call session and the at least one IP media session over the first network cell, the voice call session over the first network cell and routing data streams associated with the at least one IP media session to the UE over the second network cell; and
detaching, if the UE is not simultaneously performing the voice call session and the at least one IP media session over the first network cell, the UE from the first network cell associated with the first RAT.

Abstract
A method and system for managing voice call and IP media sessions in a wireless communication environment are provided. The method includes determining whether a User Equipment (UE) is simultaneously performing a voice call session and at least one Internet Protocol (IP) media session over a first network cell associated with a first Radio Access Technology (RAT); continuing, if the UE is simultaneously performing the voice call session and the at least one IP media session, the voice call session over the first network cell and routing data streams associated with the at least one IP media session to the UE over a second network cell associated with a second RAT; and detaching, if the UE is not simultaneously performing the voice call session and the at least one IP media session, the UE from the first network cell associated with the first RAT.

13. A system comprising:
-
at least one User Equipment (UE); a first network cell associated with a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) type; a second network cell associated with a second RAT type; and a core network communicatively coupled to the at least one UE over the first network cell and the second network cell for registering the at least one UE with the first network cell and the second network cell substantially simultaneously for providing voice and Internet Protocol (IP) media services to the UE; determining whether a voice call session and at least one IP media session are ongoing simultaneously on the UE over the first network cell; continuing, if the UE is simultaneously performing the voice call session and the at least one IP media session over the first network cell, the voice call session over the first network cell and routing data streams associated with the at least one IP media session to the UE over the second network cell; and detaching, if the UE is not simultaneously performing the voice call session and the at least one IP media session over the first network cell, the UE from the first network cell associated with the first RAT. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
