1. A device for reducing the volume of the ventricles of a heart chamber, the device comprising:
- a cartridge for placement on dysfunctional cardiac tissue, the cartridge having suction vents positioned along a top surface thereof; and
a suction head for pulling the tissue through the cartridge, securing the dysfunctional cardiac tissue inside the cartridge, wherein the suction head and cartridge are positionable on the dysfunctional cardiac tissue, and wherein the suction head is moveable upward relative to the cartridge while the cartridge remains stationary about the dysfunctional cardiac tissue to pull the tissue through the cartridge.

Abstract
Various methods and devices are provided for reducing the volume of the ventricles of the heart. In one embodiment, a method for reducing the ventricular volume of a heart chamber is provided including the steps of inserting an anchoring mechanism onto dysfunctional cardiac tissue, deploying one or more anchors into the dysfunctional cardiac tissue, raising the dysfunctional cardiac tissue using the anchors, and securing the anchors to hold the dysfunctional cardiac tissue in place. Further, a device for reducing the volume of the ventricles of a heart chamber is provided where the device has one or more clips for placement on dysfunctional cardiac tissue of a heart, one or more anchors for deployment and securement into the dysfunctional cardiac tissue, and a lifting mechanism for raising the one or more anchors and the dysfunctional cardiac tissue.

an elongate shaft; an actuator coupled with a proximal end of the elongate shaft; and a mechanism coupled with a distal end of the elongate shaft, the mechanism comprising; a cartridge for placement on dysfunctional cardiac tissue, the cartridge being coupled with the elongate shaft via a remotely detachable joint and including suction vents placed along a top of the cartridge; and a suction head for pulling the tissue through the cartridge, thereby securing the dysfunctional cardiac tissue inside the cartridge, the suction head being moveable laterally relative to an axis of the elongate shaft and being moveable relative to the cartridge to pull the tissue through the cartridge; wherein the cartridge is a one way cartridge that is configured to secure the dysfunctional cardiac tissue in position upon removal of the suction head. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12)

a cartridge for placement on dysfunctional cardiac tissue, the cartridge being coupled with a distal end of a shaft and including an opening; and a suction head for pulling the tissue through the cartridge, securing the dysfunctional cardiac tissue inside the cartridge, the suction head being coupled with the distal end of the shaft, the suction head having a shape that corresponds with the opening of the cartridge, wherein the suction head and cartridge are positionable on the dysfunctional cardiac tissue, and wherein the suction head is moveable laterally relative to an axis of the shaft and is pivotable into the opening of the cartridge and moveable upward relative thereto while the cartridge remains stationary about the dysfunctional cardiac tissue to pull the tissue through the cartridge.
