Abstract

Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing press-to-transmit (PTX) communications on a PTX device, including include receiving at a recipient PTX device a first indication that a floor grant has been granted to an originating PTX device. Also, determining whether a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered for delayed playback by the recipient PTX device. Further, transmitting a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in a memory of the recipient PTX device. Further still, transmitting a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output PTX message segments.

Claims

1. A method of managing press-to-transmit (PTX) communications on a PTX device, comprising:

receiving at a recipient PTX device a first indication that a floor grant has been granted to an originating PTX device;

determining whether a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered for delayed playback by the recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

transmitting a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in a memory of the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving the PTX message segment; and

storing the PTX message segment in the memory at the recipient PTX device in response to determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal including the recipient storage indication.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a delete signal associated with the PTX message segment; and

deleting the PTX message segment from the memory of the recipient PTX device.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a floor taken signal as the first indication that the originating PTX device has been granted the floor grant, wherein the floor taken signal is transmitted separately from the PTX message segment.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

transmitting a playback status indicating a portion of the PTX message segment that has been output from the recipient PTX device.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

measuring an ambient noise level around the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the ambient noise level.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an input from a user interface of the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the input from the user interface.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

generating a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

displaying on the recipient PTX device the speech-to-text translation.

9. A press-to-transmit (PTX) device comprising:

a memory; and

a processor coupled to the memory and configured with processor-executable instructions to;

receive at a recipient PTX device a first indication that a floor grant has been granted to an originating PTX device;

determine whether a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered for delayed playback by the recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

transmit a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in the memory of the recipient PTX device; and

transmit a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

10. The PTX device of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive the PTX message segment; and

store the PTX message segment in the memory at the recipient PTX device in response to determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal including the recipient storage indication.

11. The PTX device of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a delete signal associated with the PTX message segment; and

delete the PTX message segment from the memory of the recipient PTX device.

12. The PTX device of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a floor taken signal as the first indication that the originating PTX device has been granted the floor grant, wherein the floor taken signal is transmitted separately from the PTX message segment.

13. The PTX device of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

transmit a playback status indicating a portion of the PTX message segment that has been output from the recipient PTX device.

14. The PTX device of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

measure an ambient noise level around the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the ambient noise level.

15. The PTX device of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive an input from a user interface of the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the input from the user interface.

16. The PTX device of claim 9, further comprising:

a device display coupled to the processor, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to;

generate a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

display on the device display a playback status including the speech-to-text translation.

17. A press-to-transmit (PTX) device comprising:

means for receiving at a recipient PTX device a first indication that a floor grant has been granted to an originating PTX device;

means for determining whether a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered for delayed playback by the recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

means for transmitting a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in a memory of the recipient PTX device; and

means for transmitting a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

18. The PTX device of claim 17, further comprising:

means for receiving the PTX message segment; and

means for storing the PTX message segment in the memory at the recipient PTX device in response to determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal including the recipient storage indication.

19. The PTX device of claim 17, further comprising:

means for receiving a delete signal associated with the PTX message segment; and

means for deleting the PTX message segment from the memory of the recipient PTX device.

20. The PTX device of claim 17, further comprising:

means for receiving a floor taken signal as the first indication that the originating PTX device has been granted the floor grant, wherein the floor taken signal is transmitted separately from the PTX message segment.

21. The PTX device of claim 17, further comprising:

means for transmitting a playback status indicating a portion of the PTX message segment that has been output from the recipient PTX device.

22. The PTX device of claim 17, further comprising:

means for measuring an ambient noise level around the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the ambient noise level.

23. The PTX device of claim 17, further comprising:

means for receiving an input from a user interface of the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the input from the user interface.

24. The PTX device of claim 17, further comprising:

means for generating a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

means for displaying on the recipient PTX device a playback status including the speech-to -text translation.

25. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon processor-executable instructions configured to cause a processor of a press-to-transmit (PTX) device to perform operations for PTX communications, the operations comprising:

receiving at a recipient PTX device a first indication that a floor grant has been granted to an originating PTX device;

determining whether a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered for delayed playback by the recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

transmitting a buffer signal based on determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal indicating one of a request to buffer the PTX message segment and a recipient storage indication signifying the PTX message segment will be stored in a memory of the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

26. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving the PTX message segment; and

storing the PTX message segment in the memory at the recipient PTX device in response to determining the PTX message segment should buffered, the buffer signal including the recipient storage indication.

27. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a delete signal associated with the PTX message segment; and

deleting the PTX message segment from the memory of the recipient PTX device.

28. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a floor taken signal as the first indication that the originating PTX device has been granted the floor grant, wherein the floor taken signal is transmitted separately from the PTX message segment.

29. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

transmitting a playback status indicating a portion of the PTX message segment that has been output from the recipient PTX device.

30. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

measuring an ambient noise level around the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the ambient noise level.

31. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving an input from a user interface of the recipient PTX device, wherein determining whether the PTX message segment from the originating PTX device should be buffered is based on the input from the user interface.

32. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 25, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

generating a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

displaying on the recipient PTX device a playback status including the speech-to-text translation.

33. A method of managing press-to-transmit (PTX) communications between PTX devices, comprising:

receiving at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status from a recipient PTX device, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from an originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments; and

transmitting a buffer indication to the originating PTX device reflecting at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status have been received from the recipient PTX device.

34. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

receiving a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments; and

transmitting the PTX message segment to the recipient PTX device in response to receiving the ready signal.

35. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

receiving a delete signal from the originating PTX device; and

deleting the PTX message segment from the memory to prevent outputting the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device.

36. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

receiving a first delete signal from the originating PTX device for preventing the PTX message segment from being output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a second delete signal to the recipient PTX device for the recipient PTX device to delete the PTX message segment.

37. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting the playback status to the originating PTX device.

38. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

receiving a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

39. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

generating a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

transmitting a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

40. A PTX device for managing press-to-transmit (PTX) communications between PTX devices, comprising:

a memory; and

a processor coupled to the memory and configured with processor-executable instructions to;

receive at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status from a recipient PTX device, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from an originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments; and

transmit a buffer indication to the originating PTX device reflecting at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status have been received from the recipient PTX device.

41. The PTX device of claim 40, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

store the PTX message segment in the memory;

receive a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output PTX message segments; and

transmit the PTX message segment to the recipient PTX device in response to receiving the ready signal.

42. The PTX device of claim 40, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

store the PTX message segment in the memory;

receive a delete signal from the originating PTX device; and

delete the PTX message segment from the memory to prevent outputting the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device.

43. The PTX device of claim 40, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a first delete signal from the originating PTX device for preventing the PTX message segment from being output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmit a second delete signal to the recipient PTX device for the recipient PTX device to delete the PTX message segment.

44. The PTX device of claim 40, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmit the playback status to the originating PTX device.

45. The PTX device of claim 40, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device; and

transmit a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

46. The PTX device of claim 40, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

generate a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

transmit a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

47. A press-to-transmit (PTX) device comprising:

means for receiving at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status from a recipient PTX device, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from an originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments; and

means for transmitting a buffer indication to the originating PTX device reflecting at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status have been received from the recipient PTX device.

48. The PTX device of claim 47, further comprising:

means for storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

means for receiving a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output PTX message segments; and

means for transmitting the PTX message segment to the recipient PTX device in response to receiving the ready signal.

49. The PTX device of claim 47, further comprising:

means for storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

means for receiving a delete signal from the originating PTX device; and

means for deleting the PTX message segment from the memory to prevent outputting the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device.

50. The PTX device of claim 47, further comprising:

means for receiving a first delete signal from the originating PTX device for preventing the PTX message segment from being output from the recipient PTX device; and

means for transmitting a second delete signal to the recipient PTX device for the recipient PTX device to delete the PTX message segment.

51. The PTX device of claim 47, further comprising:

means for receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

means for transmitting the playback status to the originating PTX device.

52. The PTX device of claim 47, further comprising:

means for receiving a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device; and

means for transmitting a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

53. The PTX device of claim 47, further comprising:

means for generating a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

means for transmitting a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

54. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon processor-executable instructions configured to cause a processor of a press-to-transmit (PTX) device to perform operations for PTX communications, the operations comprising:

receiving at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status from a recipient PTX device, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from an originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments; and

transmitting a buffer indication to the originating PTX device reflecting at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status have been received from the recipient PTX device.

55. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 54, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

receiving a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output PTX message segments; and

transmitting the PTX message segment to the recipient PTX device in response to receiving the ready signal.

56. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 54, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

receiving a delete signal from the originating PTX device; and

deleting the PTX message segment from the memory to prevent outputting the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device.

57. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 54, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a first delete signal from the originating PTX device for preventing the PTX message segment from being output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a second delete signal to the recipient PTX device for the recipient PTX device to delete the PTX message segment.

58. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 54, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting the playback status to the originating PTX device.

59. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 54, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

60. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 54, wherein the processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

generating a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

transmitting a playback status to the originating PTX device indicating the portion of the speech-to-text translation that has been output by the recipient PTX device.

61. A method of managing press-to-transmit (PTX) communications on a PTX device, comprising:

receiving at an originating PTX device with an active floor grant at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback at a recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

outputting at the originating PTX device an indication of at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status; and

receiving a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

62. The method of claim 61, further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory; and

transmitting the PTX message segment in response to receiving the ready signal.

63. The method of claim 61, further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

determining whether the PTX message segment should be deleted; and

deleting the PTX message segment from the memory in response to determining the PTX message segment should be deleted to prevent the recipient PTX device from outputting at least a portion of the PTX message segment.

64. The method of claim 61, further comprising:

determining whether at least one portion of the PTX message segment should be output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a delete signal in response to determining the at least one portion of the PTX message segment should not be output from the recipient PTX device.

65. The method of claim 61, further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

outputting the playback status.

66. The method of claim 61, further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device, the playback status including a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

displaying on the originating PTX device the playback status.

67. The method of claim 61, further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device;

generating a speech-to-text translation of at least one portion of the PTX message segment; and

displaying on the originating PTX device the playback status including the speech-to-text translation.

68. A press-to-transmit (PTX) device comprising:

a memory; and

a processor coupled to the memory and configured with processor-executable instructions to;

receive at an originating PTX device with an active floor grant at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback at a recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

output at the originating PTX device an indication of at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status; and

receive a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

69. The PTX device of claim 68, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

store the PTX message segment in the memory; and

transmit the PTX message segment in response to receiving the ready signal.

70. The PTX device of claim 68, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

store the PTX message segment in the memory;

determine whether the PTX message segment should be deleted; and

delete the PTX message segment from the memory in response to determining the PTX message segment should be deleted to prevent the recipient PTX device from outputting at least a portion of the PTX message segment.

71. The PTX device of claim 68, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

determine whether at least one portion of the PTX message segment should be output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmit a delete signal in response to determining the at least one portion of the PTX message segment should not be output from the recipient PTX device.

72. The PTX device of claim 68, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

output the playback status.

73. The PTX device of claim 68, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device, the playback status including a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

display on the originating PTX device the playback status.

74. The PTX device of claim 68, wherein the processor is further configured with the processor-executable instructions to:

receive a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device;

generate a speech-to-text translation of at least one portion of the PTX message segment; and

display on the originating PTX device the playback status including the speech-to-text translation.

75. A press-to-transmit (PTX) device comprising:

means for receiving at an originating PTX device with an active floor grant at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback at a recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

means for outputting at the originating PTX device an indication of at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status; and

means for receiving a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

76. The PTX device of claim 75, further comprising:

means for storing the PTX message segment in a memory; and

means for transmitting the PTX message segment in response to receiving the ready signal.

77. The PTX device of claim 75, further comprising:

means for storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

means for determining whether the PTX message segment should be deleted; and

means for deleting the PTX message segment from the memory in response to determining the PTX message segment should be deleted to prevent the recipient PTX device from outputting at least a portion of the PTX message segment.

78. The PTX device of claim 75, further comprising:

means for determining whether at least one portion of the PTX message segment should be output from the recipient PTX device; and

means for transmitting a delete signal in response to determining the at least one portion of the PTX message segment should not be output from the recipient PTX device.

79. The PTX device of claim 75, further comprising:

means for receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

means for outputting the playback status.

80. The PTX device of claim 75, further comprising:

means for receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device, the playback status including a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

means for displaying on the originating PTX device the playback status.

81. The PTX device of claim 75, further comprising:

means for receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device;

means for generating a speech-to-text translation of at least one portion of the PTX message segment; and

means for displaying on the originating PTX device the speech-to-text translation.

82. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon processor-executable instructions configured to cause a processor of a press-to-transmit (PTX) device to perform operations for PTX communications, the operations comprising:

receiving at an originating PTX device with an active floor grant at least one of a buffer request and a buffer status, wherein the buffer request and the buffer status are associated with a PTX message segment from the originating PTX device being stored for delayed playback at a recipient PTX device, wherein the delayed playback replaces any output of any PTX message segments by the recipient PTX device that is otherwise able to immediately output the PTX message segments;

outputting at the originating PTX device an indication of at least one of the buffer request and the buffer status; and

receiving a ready signal indicating the recipient PTX device is ready to output the PTX message segments.

83. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 82, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory; and

transmitting the PTX message segment in response to receiving the ready signal.

84. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 82, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

storing the PTX message segment in a memory;

determining whether the PTX message segment should be deleted; and

deleting the PTX message segment from the memory in response to determining the PTX message segment should be deleted to prevent the recipient PTX device from outputting at least a portion of the PTX message segment.

85. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 82, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

determining whether at least one portion of the PTX message segment should be output from the recipient PTX device; and

transmitting a delete signal in response to determining the at least one portion of the PTX message segment should not be output from the recipient PTX device.

86. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 82, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device; and

outputting the playback status.

87. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 82, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device, the playback status including a speech-to-text translation of at least a portion of the PTX message segment; and

displaying on the originating PTX device the playback status.

88. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 82, wherein the stored processor-executable instructions are configured to cause the processor of the PTX device to perform operations further comprising:

receiving a playback status indicating how much of the PTX message segment has been output from the recipient PTX device;

generating a speech-to-text translation of at least one portion of the PTX message segment; and

displaying on the originating PTX device the playback status including the speech-to-text translation.
