1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
- displaying a thumbnail representing a plurality of frames of a media item, the thumbnail displaying one frame of the plurality of frames at a time and including a spatial position within the thumbnail corresponding to each frame of the plurality of frames;
detecting a first input indicating selection of a starting position within the thumbnail;
detecting a second input indicating selection of an ending position within the thumbnail;
identifying a selected segment of the media item that includes at least a portion of the plurality of frames encompassing a first frame corresponding to the starting position through a second frame corresponding to the ending position; and
performing an operation based on a third input using the selected segment.

15. A system comprising:
-
a display device; one or more processors communicatively coupled to the display device; and a memory device coupled to the one or more processors and including instructions that, when executed on the system, cause the system to perform operations comprising; displaying a thumbnail representing a plurality of frames of a media item, the thumbnail displaying one frame of the plurality of frames at a time and including a spatial position within the thumbnail corresponding to each frame of the plurality of frames; detecting a first input indicating selection of a starting position within the thumbnail; detecting a second input indicating selection of an ending position within the thumbnail; identifying a selected segment of the media item that includes at least a portion of the plurality of frames encompassing a first frame corresponding to the starting position through a second frame corresponding to the ending position; and performing an operation based on a third input using the selected segment. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
