1. A device for suturing an opening in a tissue, the device comprising:
- a shaft suitable for insertion into a vessel through a puncture;
an elongate foot movably mounted to the shaft, the elongate foot having a slot formed therein, the slot comprising at least one friction reducing structure comprising a plurality of recessed portions and a plurality of raised portions;
an actuator extending distally to the foot, movement of the actuator moving the foot from a low profile configuration to a deployed configuration extending laterally from the shaft;
a suture supported by the foot; and
a needle advanceable from the shaft through the tissue and to the deployed foot.

Abstract
Devices, systems, and methods for suturing of body lumens allow the suturing of vascular puncture sites located at the distal end of a percutaneous tissue tract. An elongated articulated foot of the device can be inserted through the penetration and actuated so that the foot extends along the lumenal axis. The foot can carry suturing attachment cuffs with one end of the cuff adapted to receive a needle, while the other end receives suture. A portion of the foot and/or lumen of the shaft can receive a portion of the suture and can include friction reducing structure that aid with movement of the sutured during removal of the cuffs from within the penetration.

a shaft suitable for insertion along a tissue tract and into a vessel through a puncture; an elongate foot movably mounted to the shaft, the elongate foot comprises a plurality of first needle receptacles at a first end of the elongate foot and a plurality of second needle receptacles at a second end of the elongate foot, the elongate foot having a slot formed therein, the slot comprising at least one recessed portion and at least one raised portion disposed on an interior surface of the slot; an actuator extending along the shaft distally to the foot, movement of the actuator sliding the foot axially and pivoting the foot from a low profile configuration aligned along the shaft to a deployed configuration extending laterally from the shaft; a suture supported by the foot, the suture passing through at least a portion of the slot that includes the at least one recessed portion and the at least one raised portion; and a needle advanceable from the shaft through the tissue and to the deployed foot. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18)
