1. A medical device for assisting a user in manually delivering chest compressions and/or ventilations to a patient as part of cardiac resuscitation, the device comprisinga feedback device configured to generate feedback cues to assist the user in timing the delivery of the chest compressions and/or ventilations, wherein compressions comprise an upstroke phase and a downstroke phase;

  • a processor, memory, and associated circuitry configured to determine cue times at which the feedback cues are generated by the feedback device,wherein the feedback cues are auditory and non-verbal, and if both compression and ventilation cues are generated, the feedback cue for chest compressions is a different sound from the feedback cue for ventilations, and the difference in sound between the compression and ventilation cues comprises a difference in tone, andwherein at least one of the feedback cues comprises a changing sound, wherein the change in sound is configured to improve the quality of the delivered compressions and/or ventilations.
