1. A computer-implemented method for mitigating single point failure of at least one device in an analyte monitoring system, comprising:
- receiving, at a second device, information from a first device that is related to an operational check of one or more components of the first device;
communicating, using the second device, the information related to the operational check of the one or more components of the first device to a third device;
receiving, at the second device, a request from the third device to annunciate an alarm if it is determined by the third device that the one or more components of the first device is not operating based on at least one predetermined criterion; and
annunciating, using the second device, the alarm to alert that the one or more components of the first device is not functioning in accordance with the at least one predetermined criterion.
