1. An energized biomedical ophthalmic device capable of residing in or on an eye of a user, comprising:

  • a body selected from the group consisting of an energized contact lens, intraocular lens, overlay lens, ocular insert and punctal plug, wherein the body comprises;

    an energy source;

    a light source configured to emit light for the treatment of a seasonal affective disorder of the user, energized by the energy source and positioned to direct the light towards the eye of the user;

    a biomarker sensor configured to detect changes in biomolecules contained in the tear film of the user and generate signal data corresponding to the detected changes, wherein the biomolecules are selected from the group consisting of serotonin, melatonin and Interleukin-6;

    a processor in logical communication with the biomarker sensor, wherein the processor is configured to receive and process said signal data and to control the light source.
