1. A method of managing messages via a network server, wherein the messages are redirected from a message server associated with the network server to a mobile communications device that is associated with a desktop system, and wherein the desktop system is connected over a network to the message server, the message server including a mailbox store for the messages of a user of the desktop system, the method comprising:

  • responsive to a user input indicating that a particular message redirected to the mobile communications device has been selected thereat for deletion from a local storage of the mobile communications device, determining if a delete feature is set at the mobile communications device to delete messages both on the mobile communications device and from the mailbox store at the message server;

    if so, assigning a folder ID of a deleted folder to the particular message and setting a move flag for the particular message to indicate deleting of the particular message at the mobile communications device; and

    sending an action signal indicating a state of the particular message to the message server for causing a deletion of the particular message from the mailbox store.
