1. A wireless communications device comprising:

  • a memory adapted to maintain profiles relating to each of a plurality of user contacts, the profiles including a silent notification mode setting;

    a speaker operable to emit audible notifications responsive to incoming voice communications from the user contacts;

    an input device operable to change a notification mode of the device between an audible notification mode and a silent notification mode;

    a touch screen operable to receive user selections for the silent notification mode setting of the profiles between silent mode enabled and silent mode disabled; and

    a processor coupled to the memory, the speaker, the input device and the touch screen, the processor operable for processing the user selections of the silent notification mode setting of the profiles,wherein, the processor is configured to cause the speaker to emit audible notifications responsive to incoming voice communications from the user contacts, when the device is in the audible notification mode;

    wherein, the processor is configured to prevent the speaker from emitting audible notifications responsive to incoming voice communications from the user contacts having profiles with the silent mode enabled, when the device is in the silent notification mode; and

    wherein, the processor is configured to cause the speaker to emit audible notifications responsive to incoming voice communications from the user contacts having profiles with the silent mode disabled, when the device is in the silent notification mode.
