1. A method, comprising:

  • detecting, by a system comprising a processor, signal interference in a first segment of a plurality of segments occurring in a radio frequency spectrum of a wireless communication system;

    determining, by the system, according to the signal interference a measure of quality of service of the first segment for transmitting voice traffic;

    comparing, by the system, the measure of quality of service to a desired measure of quality of service measure for voice traffic;

    determining, by the system, from the comparison that the first segment is not suitable for voice traffic;

    determining, by the system, whether non-voice traffic is available for redirection to the first segment;

    responsive to a first determination that the non-voice traffic is available for redirection to the first segment, assigning, by the system, the non-voice traffic to the first segment while the first segment is affected by the signal interference;

    responsive to a second determination that the non-voice traffic is unavailable for redirection to the first segment, disabling, by the system, use of the first segment while the first segment is affected by the signal interference; and

    responsive to a third determination that non-voice traffic is available for redirection to the first segment and a fourth determination that the first segment is not suitable for the non-voice traffic according to a desired quality of service measure for non-voice traffic, disabling, by the system, use of the first segment while the first segment is affected by the signal interference.
