1. A method comprising:

  • in response to receiving at a computing device a radio signal transmitted from a peripheral device, transmitting a return radio signal from the computing device and changing a state of an output signal;

    identifying time periods for multiple radio signals, including the received radio signal and the return radio signal, to travel between the peripheral device and the computing device; and

    determining a direction of movement of the peripheral device based on a change in the frequency of the output signal, wherein the frequency of the output signal is a function of a distance between the peripheral device and the computing device, and wherein an increasing distance between the peripheral device and the computing device corresponds to a decreasing frequency of the output signal.
