Abstract

A system for testing two or more applications associated with a computerized process may include a central repository, a user interface and a testing coordinator. The central repository may be used to store at least one test case each including a test data set and two or more sets of test scripts. The user interface may facilitate a selection of one or more test cases for use by the testing coordinator. The testing coordinator may be configured to test the operation of the computerized process by initiating testing of a first application by a first test tool using the test data set and a first set of scripts and initiating testing of the second application by the second test tool using the test data set and the second set of scripts from the selected test case. In some cases, the first test tool is incompatible with the second test tool.

Claims

1. A system for testing two or more applications associated with a computerized process, the system including:

a central repository configured to store one or more test cases, wherein each test case includes a test data set, a first set of test scripts associated with a first test tool and a second set of test scripts associated with a second test tool;

a user interface, the user interface to facilitate a selection of one or more test cases for use by the testing coordinator;

a testing coordinator in communication with the repository and the user interface, the testing coordinator including a processor configured to test operation of the computerized process by coordinating testing of the two or more applications according to the test case selected from the central repository, the processor configured to;

determine an efficient use of available testing resources based on the operation of at least the first test tool and the second test tool, any dependencies between the two or more applications, and an amount of resources available to process the first set of scripts and the second set of scripts;

initiate testing of the first application by the first test tool using the test data set and the first set of scripts from the selected test case, wherein the first application updates the test data set with data output from the first application; and

initiate testing of the second application by the second test tool using the updated test data set and the second set of scripts from the selected test case, wherein a selection of the second set of scripts is based on the data output from the first application; and

wherein the first set of scripts is incompatible with the second test tool.

2. The system of claim 1, comprising testing of the first application using a script incompatible with a testing framework associated with the second component application.

3. The system of claim 1, further comprising sequentially testing of the two or more applications associated with the computerized process by the testing coordinator, wherein testing by the first test tool completes before initiating testing by the second test tool.

The system of claim 3, comprising initiating testing of two or more applications in parallel, the processor configured to initiate testing of a third application by a third test tool in parallel with the testing of the first application and/or the testing of the second application, wherein the third test tool is associated with the third application.

5. The system of claim 1, the user interface further comprising at least one screen for configuring the testing coordinator for testing the operation of the computerized process and at least one screen to display results from the tests of the two or more applications.

The system of claim 1, the testing coordinator including a configurable error reaction, wherein an error received from the first test tool and/or the second test tool may cause the testing coordinator to end the of the computerized process, to pause the test of the computerized process, or to continue the test of the computerized process.

The system of claim 1, further comprising a first local repository local to the first test tool and a second local repository local to the second test tool, wherein at least a portion of the first set of scripts is stored in the first local repository and at least a portion of the second set of scripts is stored in the second local repository.

8. The system of claim 1, further comprising the first test tool and the second test tool.
