1. A computer-implemented method for determining a compatibility of one or more devices in an analyte monitoring system, comprising:

  • receiving identification code data related to a configuration of a first device;

    retrieving, using one or more processors, (a) information including a predetermined list of one or more acceptable identification codes related to one or more first device configurations compatible with the analyte monitoring system and (b) one or more software functions associated with the one or more first device configurations;

    comparing, using the one or more processors, the received identification code data with the one or more acceptable identification codes from the retrieved predetermined list;

    determining, using the one or more processors, whether the configuration of the first device is compatible with the analyte monitoring system by identifying the received identification code data in the predetermined list; and

    determining, using the one or more processors, a software function from the one or more software functions to process monitored data obtained by the first device.
