Abstract

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives control information from a first cell, generates an uplink transmission to a second cell based in part on the received control information from the first cell, receives a transmission power setting based on the uplink transmission to the second cell, and transmits in uplink using the transmission power to the second cell.

Claims

1. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

receiving control information on downlink from a first cell;

generating an uplink transmission to a second cell based in part on the received control information from the first cell;

receiving a transmission power setting on the downlink from the first cell based on the uplink transmission based on a second cell identifier (ID);

transmitting in uplink using the transmission power to the second cell;

determining a downlink timing based on the received control information from the first cell;

setting an uplink timing for communication with the second cell based on the determined downlink timing; and

receiving timing advance information from the first cell for adjusting the uplink timing, the timing advance information being based on information from the second cell.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving data associated with the control information from the second cell in a range expanded region of the second cell.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving the control information from the second cell, wherein the first cell and the second cell have a same cell identifier.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first cell is a high-power evolved Node B (eNB) and the second cell is a low-power eNB.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining a downlink path loss based on the received control information from the first cell;

setting a transmission power for uplink to the second cell based on the determined downlink path loss; and

receiving transmission power control (TPC) information from the first cell for adjusting the transmission power, the TPC information being based on information from the second cell.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving a non-zero timing offset between transmissions for the first cell and the second cell.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first cell and the second cell are in a cooperating set of cells associated with a cooperative multipoint (CoMP) reception of the control information and the data.

8. A user equipment (UE) configured to operate in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

an antenna configured for transmitting and receiving;

means for receiving, using the antenna, control information on downlink from a first cell;

means for generating an uplink transmission to a second cell based in part on the received control information from the first cell;

means for receiving, using the antenna, a transmission power setting on the downlink from the first cell based on the uplink transmission based on a second cell identifier (ID);

means for transmitting, using the antenna, in uplink using the transmission power to the second cell;

means for determining a downlink timing based on the received control information from the first cell;

means for setting an uplink timing for communication with the second cell based on the determined downlink timing; and

means for receiving, using the antenna, timing advance information from the first cell for adjusting the uplink timing, the timing advance information being based on information from the second cell.

9. The UE of claim 8, further comprising means for receiving data associated with the control information from the second cell in a range expanded region of the second cell.

10. The UE of claim 8, further comprising means for receiving the control information from the second cell, wherein the first cell and the second cell have a same cell identifier.

11. The UE of claim 8, wherein the first cell is a high-power evolved Node B (eNB) and the second cell is a low-power eNB.

12. The UE of claim 8, further comprising:

means for determining a downlink path loss based on the received control information from the first cell;

means for setting a transmission power for uplink to the second cell based on the determined downlink path loss; and

means for receiving transmission power control (TPC) information from the first cell for adjusting the transmission power, the TPC information being based on information from the second cell.

13. The UE of claim 8, further comprising means for receiving a non-zero timing offset between transmissions for the first cell and the second cell.

14. The UE of claim 8, wherein the first cell and the second cell are in a cooperating set of cells associated with a cooperative multipoint (CoMP) reception of the control information and the data.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer executable code for wireless communication, comprising code for:

receiving control information on downlink from a first cell;

generating an uplink transmission to a second cell based in part on the received control information from the first cell;

receiving a transmission power setting on the downlink from the first cell based on the uplink transmission based on a second cell identifier (ID);

transmitting in uplink using the transmission power to the second cell;

determining a downlink timing based on the received control information from the first cell;

setting an uplink timing for communication with the second cell based on the determined downlink timing; and

receiving timing advance information from the first cell for adjusting the uplink timing, the timing advance information being based on information from the second cell.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, further comprising code for receiving data associated with the control information from the second cell in a range expanded region of the second cell.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, further comprising code for receiving the control information from the second cell, wherein the first cell and the second cell have a same cell identifier.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the first cell is a high-power evolved Node B (eNB) and the second cell is a low-power eNB.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, further comprising code for:

determining a downlink path loss based on the received control information from the first cell;

setting a transmission power for uplink to the second cell based on the determined downlink path loss; and

receiving transmission power control (TPC) information from the first cell for adjusting the transmission power, the TPC information being based on information from the second cell.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, further comprising code for receiving a non-zero timing offset between transmissions for the first cell and the second cell.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the first cell and the second cell are in a cooperating set of cells associated with a cooperative multipoint (CoMP) reception of the control information and the data.

22. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

receive control information on downlink from a first cell;

generate an uplink transmission to a second cell based in part on the received control information from the first cell;

receive a transmission power setting on the downlink from the first cell based on the uplink transmission to the second cell;

transmit in uplink using the transmission power to the second cell;

determine a downlink timing based on the received control information from the first cell;

set an uplink timing for communication with the second cell based on the determined downlink timing; and

receive timing advance information from the first cell for adjusting the uplink timing, the timing advance information being based on information from the second cell.

23. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to receive data associated with the control information from the second cell in a range expanded region of the second cell.

24. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to receive the control information from the second cell, wherein the first cell and the second cell have a same cell identifier.

25. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the first cell is a high-power evolved Node B (eNB) and the second cell is a low-power eNB.

26. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:

determine a downlink path loss based on the received control information from the first cell;

set a transmission power for uplink to the second cell based on the determined downlink path loss; and

receive transmission power control (TPC) information from the first cell for adjusting the transmission power, the TPC information being based on information from the second cell.

27. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to receive a non-zero timing offset between transmissions for the first cell and the second cell.

28. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the first cell and the second cell are in a cooperating set of cells associated with a cooperative multipoint (CoMP) reception of the control information and the data.
