1. A method for detecting and measuring bloodstream ethanol comprising the steps of:

  • providing an array of sensors adapted to process the pre-perspiratory vapor emanating from a person, the pre-perspiratory vapor containing one or more analytes;

    each individual sensor in the array of sensors producing a sensor output signal in response to the one or more analytes present;

    at least one chemicapacitor sensor producing an identifiable sensor output signal to an analyte of ethanol; and

    at least two chemicapacitor sensors, of the same technology as said at least one chemicapacitor sensor, in the sensor array producing different sensor output signals in response to an identical analyte;

    storing sensor output signal array patterns corresponding to one or more output signals of the array of sensors as stored output signal array patterns in a pattern recognition library;

    receiving individual sensor output signals from the array of sensors, at a computing device, as an array of received individual sensor output signals exhibiting a received individual sensor output signal array pattern;

    producing a computer comparison between the received individual sensor output signal array pattern to the stored output signal array patterns stored in the pattern recognition library; and

    determining a transdermal alcohol content measurement as a function of the comparison.
