1. A method for determining interference of a wireless system, comprising:
- a first base station (BS) wirelessly communicating with a first plurality of user equipment (UE);
selecting a second BS associated with the first BS, the second BS wirelessly communicating with a second plurality of UE;
selecting a UE from the second plurality of UE;
scheduling the selected UE to transmit according to a transmission mode during a scheduled transmission;
scheduling the first plurality of UE to transmit a null transmission mode during at least a portion of the scheduled transmission of the selected UE; and
characterizing, by the first BS, interference of the selected UE at the first BS based on interference received by the first BS during the null transmission mode of the first plurality of UE during the at least the portion of the scheduled transmission.

Abstract
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for scheduling a user equipment transmission mode to assist uplink interference characterization are provided. One method includes a first base station (BS) wirelessly communicating with a first plurality of user equipment (UE), selecting a second BS associated with the first BS, the second BS wirelessly communicating with a second plurality of UE, selecting a UE from the second plurality of UE, scheduling the selected UE to transmit according to a transmission mode during a scheduled transmission, and characterizing, by the first BS, interference of the selected UE at the first BS during the scheduled transmission.

a first base station (BS), the first BS operative to wirelessly communicate with a first plurality of user equipment (UE); one or more controllers operative to select a second BS associated with first BS, the second BS operative to wirelessly communicate with a second plurality of UE; one or more controllers operative to select a UE from the second plurality of UE; one or more controllers operative to schedule the selected UE to transmit according to a transmission mode during a scheduled transmission; one or more controllers operative to schedule the first plurality of UE to transmit a null transmission mode during at least a portion of the scheduled transmission of the selected UE; and the first BS operative to characterize interference at the scheduled transmission based on interference received by the first BS during the null transmission mode of the first plurality of UE during the at least the portion of the scheduled transmission.
