1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
- accessing a media item stored on a memory device, the media item including a plurality of frames;
dividing the media item into a plurality of segments, each segment of the plurality of segments including a portion of the plurality of frames;
generating, for display on a display device, a plurality of thumbnails to represent the plurality of segments of the media item, a first thumbnail of the plurality of thumbnails corresponding to a first segment of the plurality of segments, the first thumbnail including a spatial position within an outline of the first thumbnail corresponding to each frame in the first segment; and
displaying the plurality of thumbnails in a continuous sequence within a graphical user interface to represent the media item.
