Abstract

A mobile device and a method performed by the mobile device for receiving a service from a service providing apparatus are provided. The method includes receiving a signal which is emitted from the beacon apparatus, wherein the mobile device is located within vicinity of the beacon apparatus; determining an intensity of the received signal; requesting the service providing apparatus for a service based on the determined intensity; and receiving the service from the service providing apparatus.

Claims

1. A mobile device, comprising:

a communication unit configured to receive a signal that is transmitted from a wireless transmitter, wherein the mobile device is located within a detectable range from the wireless transmitter; and

a processor configured to determine signal intensity information based on an intensity of the received signal, and send a request for service information to a server based on the determined signal intensity information related to the intensity of the received signal,

wherein the communication unit is further configured to receive the service information obtained based on the determine signal intensity from the server.

2. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the communication unit is further configured to receive the signal including unique information of the wireless transmitter and provide the unique information of the wireless transmitter to the server.

3. The mobile device of claim 2, wherein the communication unit is further configured to receive the service information that is determined by the server according to at least one of the determined signal intensity information and the unique information.

4. The mobile device of claim 2, wherein the unique information of the wireless transmitter includes at least one of a Service Set IDentifier (SSID) and a Media Access Control (MAC) address.

5. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to determine a proximity to the wireless transmitter based on the determined signal intensity information of the received signal.

6. The mobile device of claim 5, wherein the processor is further configured to calculate a distance between the mobile device and the wireless transmitter.

7. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the communication unit is further configured to receive the service information that is determined by the server according to a distance between the mobile device and the wireless transmitter.

8. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the communication unit is further configured to transmit Identification (ID) information of the mobile device to the server, and

wherein the service information is determined by the server according to the ID information of the mobile device.

9. The mobile device of claim 1, wherein the service information is at least one of a content and a service Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

10. A method performed by a mobile device for receiving a service from a server, the method comprising:

receiving a signal which is transmitted from a wireless transmitter, wherein the mobile device is located within a detectable range from the wireless transmitter;

determining signal intensity information based on an intensity of the received signal;

sending a request for service information to the server based on the determined signal intensity information related to the intensity of the received signal; and

receiving the service information obtained based on the determined signal intensity information from the server.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the received signal includes unique information of the wireless transmitter, and

wherein sending the request comprises providing the unique information of the wireless transmitter to the server.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the received service information is determined by the server according to at least one of the determined signal intensity information and the unique information.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the unique information of the wireless transmitter includes at least one of a Service Set IDentifier (SSID) and a Media Access Control (MAC) address.

14. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

determining a proximity to the wireless transmitter based on the determined signal intensity information of the received signal.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein determining the proximity comprises calculating a distance between the mobile device and the wireless transmitter.

16. The method of claim 10, wherein the received service information is determined by the server according to a distance between the mobile device and the wireless transmitter.

17. The method of claim 10, wherein the sending the request the server comprises transmitting Identification (ID) information of the mobile device to the server, and

wherein the service information is determined by the server according to the ID information of the mobile device.

18. The method of claim 10, wherein the service information is at least one of a content and a service Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

19. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon a program for executing a method performed by a mobile device, the method comprising:

receiving a signal which is transmitted from the wireless transmitter, wherein the mobile device is located within a detectable range from the wireless transmitter;

determining signal intensity information based on an intensity of the received signal;

sending a request for service information to the server based on the determined signal intensity information related to the intensity of the received signal; and

receiving the service information obtained based on the determined signal intensity information from the server.
