1. A device for making a carbon nanotube film, the device comprising:

  • a substrate having a surface, wherein the material of the substrate is glass, quartz, silicon, or aluminum oxide;

    two first slits defined on the surface of the substrate, wherein the two first slits are substantially parallel and extend into the substrate from the surface of the substrate, and the first slits are along a first direction;

    two second slits defined on the surface of the substrate, wherein the two second slits are substantially parallel and extend into the substrate from the surface of the substrate, the two second slits are along a second direction, the two first slits intersects the two second slits and a growing surface is defined and surrounded by the two first slits and the two second slits; and

    a carbon nanotube array located on the growing surface, wherein the carbon nanotube array is configured to have a carbon nanotube film drawn therefrom.
