First Claim
1. A surgical method of treating tissue within the body of a patient, comprising:
- providing an endocutter having a knife, a staple holder along which said knife is slidable, a plurality of feeder belts located on each side of said knife, a first plurality of staples having a first size, said first plurality of staples integral with and breakable from at least one said feeder belt, and a second plurality of staples having a second size different from said first size, said second plurality of staples integral with and breakable from at least one said feeder belt;
engaging tissue of the patient with said staple holder;
deploying at least two of said first plurality of said staples having a first size;
disengaging tissue of the patient from said staple holder;
once again engaging tissue of the patient with the same said staple holder; and
deploying at least two of said second plurality of said staples having a second size.

6. A surgical method of treating tissue within the body of a patient, comprising:

clamping tissue with a surgical stapler, said surgical stapler including at least one feeder belt to which a plurality of staples of different sized are frangibly affixed; bending a first plurality of staples having a first size out of said surgical stapler and into tissue; shearing said first plurality of staples from at least one said feeder belt; unclamping the tissue; once again clamping tissue with the same said surgical stapler; bending a second plurality of staples having a second size out of said surgical stapler and into tissue, wherein said second size is different from said first size; shearing said second plurality of staples from at least one said feeder belt; and unclamping the tissue. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10)
