- a heating element in communication with an NTC material, wherein a first signal is generated through the heating element at a first frequency;
a single sensing wire wrapped about the NTC material for detecting a hotspot created by the heating element, the sensing wire have a first end and a second end;
a first and second resistor positioned on the first end of the sensing wire;
a third and fourth resistor positioned on the second end of the sensing wire;
a first A/D converter connected between the first and second resistor;
a second A/D converter connected to between the third and fourth; and
a signal detector for detecting the signal from the first and second A/D converters.

16. A method for detecting the integrity of a sensing wire in an electrically heated textile having a heating element, the method comprising the steps of:

providing a single sensing wire wrapped about an NTC material to monitor the electrically heated textile for hot spots, the sensing wire have a first end and a second end, wherein a first and second resistor are positioned on the first end of the sensing wire and a third and fourth resistor are positioned on the second end of the sensing wire; providing a first A/D converter connected between the first and second resistor; providing a second A/D converter connected to between the third and fourth resistor; and monitoring the inputs from the first A/D converter and the second A/D converter. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19)
