1. A method of displaying Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) information on an Intelligent television (TV), comprising:
- displaying, by a processor, an in-use portion on a screen of the Intelligent TV;
displaying, by the processor, a partial portion on the screen, wherein the partial portion comprises a first portion and a second portion;
displaying, by the processor, a favorite channel portion showing EPG information for a plurality of favorite tagged channels in the first portion, wherein the partial portion is generated by an EPG display application of the Intelligent TV, wherein the EPG display application retrieves the EPG information for the plurality of favorite tagged channels and the plurality of favorite tagged shows through an EPG subservice, wherein the EPG subservice is configured to retrieves channels and shows tagged as favorite through a tag subservice, wherein a second application sets and clears favorite tags for channels and shows through the tag subservice, wherein the EPG display retrieves and displays thumbnails for channels and shows through a thumbnail cache manager, wherein uniform resource identifiers (URIs) for each thumbnail are in the EPG information retrieved through the EPG subservice, and wherein the thumbnail cache manager serves each thumbnail using the respective URI, and wherein the EPG information is polled when triggered by a channel scanning operation; and
while displaying the favorite channel portion in the first portion, simultaneously displaying, by the processor, a favorite show portion showing EPG information for a plurality of favorite tagged shows in the second portion, wherein the first and second portions are visually separated on the screen of the intelligent television.

Abstract
A display for an Intelligent television (TV) includes a live TV display and an Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) display. The EPG display is positioned at a side of the live TV display and includes a favorite channel portion showing EPG information for a plurality of favorite tagged channels and a favorite show portion showing EPG information for a plurality of favorite tagged shows. An EPG display application generates the EPG display portion and retrieves the EPG information for the plurality of favorite tagged channels and the plurality of favorite tagged shows through an EPG subservice. The EPG subservice retrieves channels and shows tagged as favorite through a tag subservice. A second application sets and clears favorite tags for channels and shows through the tag subservice.

a memory; a processor, in communication with the memory, that; displays an in-use portion on a screen of the Intelligent TV; displays a partial portion on the screen, wherein the partial portion comprises a first portion and a second portion; renders and displays a live TV display and an Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) display on the Intelligent TV, the EPG display is positioned at a side of the live TV display, wherein the partial portion is generated by an EPG display application of the Intelligent TV, wherein the EPG display application is configured to retrieve the EPG information for the plurality of favorite tagged channels and the plurality of favorite tagged shows through an EPG subservice, wherein the EPG subservice is configured to retrieve channels and shows tagged as favorite through a tag subservice, wherein a second application is configured to set and clear favorite tags for channels and shows through the tag subservice, wherein the EPG display is configured to retrieve and display thumbnails for channels and shows through a thumbnail cache manager, wherein uniform resource identifiers (URIs) for each thumbnail is in the EPG information retrieved through the EPG subservice, and wherein the thumbnail cache manager is configured to serve each thumbnail using the respective URI, and wherein the EPG information is polled when triggered by a channel scanning operation while displaying the favorite channel portion in the first portion, simultaneously displays a favorite show portion showing EPG information for a plurality of favorite tagged shows in the second portion, wherein the first and second portions are displayed separately and simultaneously on the screen of the intelligent television; wherein, the EPG subservice is configured to retrieve channels and shows tagged as favorite through a tag subservice, and wherein a second application is configured to set and clear favorite tags for channels and shows through the tag subservice.
