1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
- obtaining map data from a mapping source, the map data enabling generation of a map representing physical locations at a location of interest;
obtaining lamp data, the lamp data including lamp specification data including parameters corresponding to attributes of lamps of a plurality of lamps;
using a data processor to provide a user interface with which a user can perform a graphical drag-and-drop operation to select a first lamp from among the plurality of lamps and position the first lamp in a location on the map, the location on the map corresponding to a physical position location of the first lamp at the location of interest;
moving the location of the first lamp on the map to a different location on the map by use of the graphical drag-and-drop operation of the user interface, the different location of the first lamp on the map corresponding to a different physical location of the first lamp at the location of interest, the movement of the location of the first lamp on the map enabling creation of a simulation to generate one or more lighting patterns at the location of interest; and
generating and outputting a lighting plan based on the attributes of the first lamp, the location of the first lamp at the location of interest, and the simulation, the lighting plan including information indicative of a cost of implementing the lighting plan at the location of interest, wherein generating the lighting plan further includes using one or more mode signals to a lighting plan development module such that one or more lighting elements is automatically positioned or substituted on the map to generate the lighting plan based on the one or more mode signals.

A system and method for enabling users to generate a lighting plan is disclosed. A particular embodiment includes obtaining map data from a mapping source, the map data enabling generation of a map at a location of interest; obtaining lamp data, the lamp data including lamp specification data including parameters corresponding to attributes of lamps of a plurality of lamps; using a data processor to provide a user interface with which a user can perform a graphical drag-and-drop operation to select a first lamp from among the plurality of lamps and position the first lamp in a position on the map; and generating a lighting plan based on the attributes and position of the first lamp.

a processor; a database, in data communication with the processor, for storage of the lamp data including lamp specification data including parameters corresponding to attributes of lamps of a plurality of lamps; and a lighting plan development module, executable by the processor, to; obtain map data from a mapping source, the map data enabling generation of a map representing physical locations at a location of interest; obtain the lamp data; use the processor to provide a user interface with which a user can perform a graphical drag-and-drop operation to select a first lamp from among the plurality of lamps and position the first lamp in a location on the map, the location on the map corresponding to a physical position location of the first lamp at the location of interest; move the location of the first lamp on the map to a different location on the map by use of the graphical drag-and-drop operation of the user interface, the different location of the first lamp on the map corresponding to a different physical location of the first lamp at the location of interest, the movement of the location of the first lamp on the map enabling creation of a simulation to generate one or more lighting patterns of lighting at the location of interest; and generate and outputting a lighting plan based on the attributes of the first lamp, the location of the first lamp at the location of interest, and the simulation, the lighting plan including information indicative of a cost of implementing the lighting plan at the location of interest, wherein generating the lighting plan further includes using one or more mode signals to the lighting plan development module such that one or more lighting elements is automatically positioned or substituted on the map to generate the lighting plan based on the one or more mode signals. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
