1. A system for reading an identifier from a first object having a portion of a repeating feature printed thereon, comprising:
- an imaging apparatus operable to acquire an image of a portion of the printed repeating feature from the first object, the repeating feature repeating in the direction of continuous travel of a plurality of objects through a printing location, at least the portion of the repeating feature being printed to each object of the plurality of objects, including the first object, as the plurality of objects reach the printing location; and
a comparator operable tocompare one or more expected attributes of the imaged portion of the printed repeating feature with one or more corresponding actual attributes of the imaged portion of the printed repeating feature, anddetermine, based on the comparison, an authenticity or identification of the first object, wherein the system is operable to output a notification of the authenticity or identification of the first object responsive to determining the authenticity or identification, respectively.

Abstract
A method and system for reading an identifier from an object having a portion of a repeating image imparted thereon. The system preferably includes an imaging apparatus for imaging a portion of the repeating image from the object, the repeating image repeating in the direction of continuous travel of one or more objects through a printing location, at least the portion of the repeating image being printed to each of a plurality of objects, including the object, as the plurality of objects reach the printing location. The system further preferably includes a comparator for comparing one or more expected attributes of the imaged repeating image with one or more corresponding actual attributes of the imaged repeating image.

22. A method for providing an identifier to one or more objects, comprising the steps of:
