Abstract

A novel compound having high triplet excitation energy and a bipolar property is provided. Specifically, a phenanthrene compound represented by General Formula (G1) is provided where R¹¹ to R¹⁹ and R²¹ to R²⁷ separately represent any one of hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group having 6 to 13 carbon atoms, Ar represents a substituted or unsubstituted arylene group having 6 to 13 carbon atoms, and Z represents a sulfur atom or an oxygen atom. The use of the phenanthrene compound as a host material of a light-emitting layer in the presence of a phosphorescent dopant allows the formation of a light-emitting element with high current efficiency.

Claims

1. A light-emitting element comprising:

a pair of electrodes;

an electroluminescence layer between the pair of electrodes, the electroluminescence layer comprising a first light-emitting layer;

wherein the first light-emitting layer comprises a first phenanthrene compound and a light-emitting substance, and

wherein the first phenanthrene compound is represented by Formula (109);

2. The light-emitting element according to claim 1, wherein the light-emitting substance comprises tris(2-phenylpyridinato-N,C′

)iridium(III).

3. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 further comprising:

a second light-emitting layer,

wherein the second light-emitting layer comprises a second phenanthrene compound.

4. The light-emitting element according to claim 3, wherein the second phenanthrene compound is represented by Formula (109).

5. A display device comprising the light-emitting element according to claim 1.

6. An electronic device comprising the light-emitting element according to claim 1.

7. A lighting device comprising the light-emitting element according to claim 1.

8. The lighting device according to claim 7, wherein the lighting device is capable of emitting white light.

9. A light-emitting element comprising:

a pair of electrodes;

an electroluminescence layer between the pair of electrodes, the electroluminescence layer comprising a first light-emitting layer and a second light-emitting layer;

wherein the first light-emitting layer comprises a phenanthrene compound and a light-emitting substance,

wherein the phenanthrene compound is represented by Formula (G1);

10. The light-emitting element according to claim 9, wherein the light-emitting substance comprises tris(2-phenylpyridinato-N,C′

)iridium(III).

11. A display device comprising the light-emitting element according to claim 9.

12. An electronic device comprising the light-emitting element according to claim 9.

13. A lighting device comprising the light-emitting element according to claim 9.

14. The lighting device according to claim 13, wherein the lighting device is capable of emitting white light.
