1. A method for a first node to participate in an ad hoc network including the first node and at least second and third nodes, the method comprising:
- receiving a first link information broadcasted omnidirectionally by the second node, the first link information indicating if the second node is communicating via a first directional link in a first polarization with the third node;
establishing a second directional link in a second polarization with the second node;
in response to the second node stop being in communication via the first directional link in the first polarization with the third node and the first node wishing to communicate via the second directional link in the first polarization with the second node, establishing the second directional link in the first polarization with the second node;
after establishing the second directional link in the first polarization with the second node and prior to sending a data via the second directional link in the first polarization to the second node, broadcasting omnidirectionally a second link information, the second link information indicating the first node is communicating via the second directional link in the first polarization with the second node; and
after broadcasting omnidirectionally the second link information, sending the data via the second directional link in the first polarization to the second node.

Abstract
The present disclosure set forth a method for a node to participate in an ad hoc network. The first node receives a first link information broadcasted omnidirectionally by a second node. The first link information indicates if the second node is communicating via a first directional link in a first polarization with a third node. The first node establishes a second directional link in a second polarization with the second node.

12. A method for a first node to participate in an ad hoc network including the first node and at least a second node, the method comprising:
-
the first node broadcasting omnidirectionally a first link information, the first link information indicating the first node is communicating via a first directional link in a first polarization with the second node; after receiving a data via the first directional link in the first polarization from the second node and prior to sending an acknowledgment via the first directional link in the first polarization to the second node, the first node broadcasting omnidirectionally an updated first link information, the updated first link information indicating the first node is communicating via the first directional link in the first polarization with the second node and is able to establish a second directional link with a third node in a second polarization while the first node is communicating with the second node; after broadcasting omnidirectionally the updated first link information, the first node sending the acknowledgement via the first directional link in the first polarization to the second node; in response to the first node stop being in communication via the first directional link in the first polarization with the second node and the third node wishing to communicate via the first directional link in the first polarization with the first node, establishing a second directional link in the first polarization with the third node; after establishing the second directional link in the first polarization with the third node and prior to sending a data via the second directional link in the first polarization to the third node, broadcasting omnidirectionally a second link information, the second link information indicating the first node is communicating via the second directional link in the first polarization with the third node; and after broadcasting omnidirectionally the second link information, sending the data via the second directional link in the first polarization to the third node. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
