1. A method of wireless communication between a base station and at least one user equipment comprising the steps of:
- transmitting a control message on an enhanced physical downlink control channel from the base station to the at least one user equipment using a demodulation reference signal antenna port;
transmitting a second message indicated by the control message from the base station to the at least one user equipment;
receiving the second message at the at least one user equipment;
determining at the at least one user equipment whether the second message was correctly received; and
transmitting an ACK/NAK signal on an ACK/NAK resource determined from the enhanced physical downlink control channel from the at least one user equipment to the base station indicating whether the second message was correctly received by the at least one user equipment, wherein the ACK/NAK signal further includes partitioning a physical uplink control channel into a legacy portion when the user equipment is configured to receive downlink control information on the legacy physical downlink control channel and an enhanced portion wherein the user equipment is configured to receive downlink control information on the enhanced physical downlink control channel and to use physical uplink control channel format 1a or 1b for determining ACK/NAK resource as;
nPUCCH(1)=nindex+NPUCCH(1)+g(NPUCCH, e(1))where;
nindex is the respective lowest indexed physical resource block or lowest indexed control channel element;
NPUCCH(1) is the cell-specific offset; and
g(NPUCCH, e(1)) is a function of a user equipment specific extended offset parameter.

Abstract
A method and apparatus of wireless communication between a base station and at least one user equipment. The method includes: transmitting an enhanced physical downlink control channel from the base station to the at least one user equipment using a demodulation reference signal antenna port; transmitting message from the base station to the at least one user equipment which is scheduled by the enhanced physical downlink control channel; receiving the message at the at least one user equipment; determining at the at least one user equipment whether the message was correctly received; and transmitting an ACK/NAK signal on an ACK/NAK resource determined from the enhanced physical downlink control channel from the at least one user equipment to the base station indicating whether the message was correctly received by the at least one user.

a transceiver operable to communication with at least one user equipment by respective transmitting radio frequency signals to the at least one user equipment and receiving radio frequency signals from the at least one user equipment; a programmable digital data processor connected to said transceiver; and a memory connected to said digital data processor storing data and at least one application program controlling operation of said programmable digital data processor, said at least one application program operable to control said programmable digital data processor to transmit a control message on an enhanced physical downlink control channel from the base station to the at least one user equipment using a demodulation reference signal antenna port, transmit a second message indicated by the control message from the base station to the at least one user equipment, receive a ACK/NAK signal on designated ACK/NAK resource, the ACK/NAK signal further including partitioning a physical uplink control channel into a legacy portion when the user equipment is configured to receive downlink control information on the legacy physical downlink control channel and an enhanced portion wherein the user equipment is configured to receive downlink control information on the enhanced physical downlink control channel and to use physical uplink control channel format 1a or 1b for determining ACK/NAK resource as;

transmitting a control message on an enhanced physical downlink control channel from a base station to at least one user equipment; transmitting a second message indicated by the control message; semi-statically configuring the at least one user equipment with a set of four physical uplink control channel format 1a or format 1b or format 3 resources and dynamically indicating a currently assigned physical uplink control channel resource from the set of four physical uplink control channel format 1a or format 1b or format 3 resources using a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledge resource indicator; receiving the second message at the at least one user equipment; determining at the at least one user equipment whether the second message was correctly received; and transmitting an ACK/NAK signal on an ACK/NAK resource determined from the enhanced physical downlink control channel from the at least one user equipment to the base station indicating whether the second message was correctly received by the at least one user equipment. - View Dependent Claims (12)
