A controller for controlling a hyperbaric wound treatment device having a treatment chamber for receiving a patient'"'"'s limb, the treatment device comprising a collapsible bag including an inflatable rib for retaining the bag in a rigid state, and having an open end supporting an inflatable sleeve for sealing against the patient'"'"'s limb, the controller comprising:

  • a gas conveyance assembly operable for creating a negative pressure within the treatment chamber of the hyperbaric wound treatment device and for supplying a treatment gas thereto; and

    a control device coupled to the gas conveyance assembly including a programmed processor for controlling the gas conveyance assembly for;

    selectively fluidly communicating the gas conveyance assembly with the treatment chamber, the inflatable rib and the inflatable sleeve;

    inflating the inflatable rib before the patient'"'"'s limb is inserted through the inflatable sleeve into the treatment chamber;

    inflating the inflatable sleeve for sealing against the patient'"'"'s limb after inflating the inflatable rib;

    creating a negative pressure simultaneously within the treatment chamber and the inflatable rib by evacuating gas simultaneously at least partially from within the treatment chamber and the inflatable rib;

    supplying an inflation gas for re-inflating the inflatable rib for retaining the collapsible bag in a rigid state; and

    supplying a treatment gas to the treatment chamber for treating the patient'"'"'s limb received therein.
