1. A data processing system configured for host sensing for message interruption, the system comprising:

  • a host computing platform having at least one processor;

    a messenger disposed in the host computing platform;

    a storage device coupled to the host computing platform and having computer instructions stored within the storage device that when executed enables the host computing platform to assign priorities to incoming messages, wherein the priorities are assigned to incoming messages based upon at least one of a presence of a source of a message in a buddy list, a relationship hierarchy for the source of the message and a category or role assigned to the source of the message; and

    ,the storage device further comprising computer instructions stored within the storage device that when executed enables the host computing platform to dynamically adjust a pre-configured threshold value for permitting message interruptions for messages having assigned priorities beyond the pre-configured threshold value, responsive to detecting an activation of a particular application, to dynamically adjust the pre-configured threshold value comprising raising the pre-configured threshold value upon determining that message interruption is undesirable based upon the activation of the particular application in the host computing platform and to lower the pre-configured threshold value upon determining that message interruption is desirable based upon the activation of the particular application in the host computing platform,wherein the particular application is operating collaboration tools comprising one of a slide ware application, a presentation ware application, a demonstration ware application, a screen sharing application, and an e-meeting application.
