1. A specimen retrieval device, comprisingan applicator including a handle assembly;
- anda specimen retrieval pouch operably disposed within the applicator and deployable therefrom upon actuation of the handle assembly, the specimen retrieval pouch including a closed bottom portion and an open upper portion, the closed bottom portion including a plurality of retention features circumferentially disposed on an inner annular side wall of the closed bottom portion, the plurality of retention features configured to engage a specimen positioned within the confines of the closed bottom portion when the closed bottom portion is pulled distally, wherein the plurality of retention features are in the form of a plurality of spikes.

Abstract
A specimen retrieval device is provided. The specimen retrieval device includes an applicator. A specimen retrieval pouch operably is disposed within the applicator and deployable therefrom. The specimen retrieval pouch defines a longitudinal axis therethrough and includes a closed bottom portion and an open upper portion. The closed bottom portion includes a plurality of spikes configured to grasp a specimen positioned within the confines closed bottom portion. The upper closed portion includes one or more axial folds that are movable from a folded configuration to an unfolded configuration when a predetermined force is applied to a portion of the specimen retrieval pouch.
