1. A method of transmitting a synchronization signal, the method comprising:
- generating a first code sequence from a first number which is related to a cell group identifier for identifying a cell group including the cell and a second code sequence from a second number which is related to a cell identifier for identifying the cell included in the cell group identified by the cell group identifier, wherein a combination of the first number and the second number indicates an identity of the cell; and
transmitting the first code sequence via a first orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol and the second code sequence via a second OFDM symbol.

Abstract
A method for transmitting a signal for cell searching in a mobile communication system having a multi-cell environment includes transmitting the signal to one or more receiving party devices within a cell, wherein the signal is used for a synchronization of the one or more receiving party devices within the cell, the signal is defined by a combination of a first code sequence derived from a first index and a second code sequence derived from a second index, and an identity of the cell is used for defining the combination of the first code sequence and the second code sequence.
