1. A portable therapeutic fluid dispensing device comprising:

  • a first housing and a second housing;

    a reservoir for storing a therapeutic fluid; and

    a driving mechanism comprising;

    a piston;

    a piston rod having a first end mechanically coupled to the piston, the piston rod being at least partially threaded; and

    an engagement member configured for threaded engagement with the piston rod, the engagement member being further configured to selectively enable a controlled displacement of the piston rod within at least the reservoir via the threaded engagement, and a manual displacement of the piston rod within at least the reservoir,wherein the engagement member is movable between a first position in which the engagement member is in threaded engagement with the piston rod, and a second position in which the engagement member is released from the threaded engagement with the piston rod to allow manual displacement of the piston rod and the engagement member comprises means for moving the engagement member from the second position to the first position upon connection of the first housing and the second housing.
