- about 0.5 to about 5 wt-% peroxyoctanoic acid;
about 1 to about 10 wt-% octanoic acid;
about 5 to about 50 wt-% water;
about 7 to about 35 wt-% hydrogen peroxideabout 0.5 to about 10 wt-% sequestrant; and
about 1 to about 20 wt-% surfactant,wherein the composition has a pH of about 3 or less, and wherein the composition is free of short-chain carboxylic acids having 4 or fewer carbon atoms.

The compositions can include advantageously high levels of the medium chain peroxycarboxylic acid, can be readily made, and/or can exhibit reduced odor.

9. A method for sanitizing an article comprising:

a) preparing a use solution by diluting a concentrate composition with an aqueous diluent where the use solution comprises about 0.5 to about 4 wt-% of the concentrate composition, the concentrate composition comprising about 0.5 to about 5 wt-% peroxyoctanoic acid; about 1 to about 10 wt-% octanoic acid; about 5 to about 50 wt-% water; about 10 to about 35 wt-% hydrogen peroxide about 0.5 to about 10 wt-% sequestrant; about 1 to about 20 wt-% surfactant, and about 10 to about 40 wt-% inorganic acid;
wherein the composition is free of short-chain carboxylic acids having 4 or fewer carbon atoms;b) contacting the use solution with the article; c) allowing sufficient contact time to sanitize the article; and d) optionally rinsing the article. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
