1. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,said hybrid vehicle includingan internal combustion engine,a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, andan electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,said control device switching between a first mode in which an operation of said internal combustion engine for maintaining a state of charge indicating a charging state of said power storage device is not performed, and a second mode in which said internal combustion engine is operated to control said state of charge to fall within a predetermined range,said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,said control device starting said internal combustion engine in said first mode when vehicle power exceeds a first threshold value, and starting said internal combustion engine in said second mode when the vehicle power exceeds a second threshold value,said first threshold value being larger than said second threshold value, andsaid control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.
