Abstract

An ECU includes a running mode control unit, a Wout control unit, and an engine start/stop determination unit. The running mode control unit controls switching of a running mode including a CD mode in which an engine is stopped and running using a motor generator alone is given priority, and a CS mode in which the engine is operated and the SOC of a power storage device is maintained at a predetermined target. The engine start/stop determination unit carries out a start determination of the engine based on a discharge allowable power indicating electric power that can be discharged by the power storage device. The Wout control unit modifies the discharge allowable power based on the running mode and operation/stop of the engine.

Claims

1. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device switching between a first mode in which an operation of said internal combustion engine for maintaining a state of charge indicating a charging state of said power storage device is not performed, and a second mode in which said internal combustion engine is operated to control said state of charge to fall within a predetermined range,

said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,

said control device starting said internal combustion engine in said first mode when vehicle power exceeds a first threshold value, and starting said internal combustion engine in said second mode when the vehicle power exceeds a second threshold value,

said first threshold value being larger than said second threshold value, and

said control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.

13. A hybrid vehicle comprising a control device defined in claim 1.

2. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device switching between a CD mode and a CS mode,

said CD and CS modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped, and said control device increasing maximum output power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said CD mode to a value larger than maximum output power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said CS mode.

6. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 2, wherein said control device modifies said maximum output power at a predetermined rate in modification of said maximum output power.

7. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 6, wherein said control device maintains said maximum output power when said internal combustion engine is started during modification of said maximum output power.

8. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 6, wherein said control device maintains said maximum output power when said internal combustion engine is started at a time of switching a running mode.

9. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 6, wherein a modifying rate of said maximum output power when said maximum output power returns from an increased state is smaller than the modifying rate of said maximum output power when said maximum output power is increased.

10. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 6, wherein a modifying rate of said maximum output power when said maximum output power is increased is greater than the modifying rate of said maximum output power when said maximum output Dower returns from an increased state.

14. A hybrid vehicle comprising a control device defined in claim 2.

15. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 2, said hybrid vehicle further including a charging device configured to receive supply of electric power from a power supply external to the vehicle to charge said power storage device,

wherein said control device sets a running mode at said first mode after said power storage device is charged by said charging device.

3. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device setting a running mode at a first mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs without maintaining a state of charge indicating a charging state of said power storage device until said state of charge is reduced to a predetermined threshold value, and switching said running mode to a second mode in which said state of charge is controlled to fall within a predetermined range when said state of charge reaches said predetermined threshold value,

said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,

said control device starting said internal combustion engine in said first mode when vehicle power exceeds a first threshold value, and starting said internal combustion engine in said second mode when the vehicle power exceeds a second threshold value,

said first threshold value being larger than said second threshold value, and

said control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.

4. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device controlling switching of a running mode including a first mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs with at least said electric motor as a driving force source and a state of charge indicating a charging state of said power storage device becoming lower in accordance with increase of a running distance, and a second mode in which, the hybrid vehicle runs with at least one of said internal combustion engine and said electric motor as the driving force source, and said state of charge is controlled to fall within a predetermined range,

said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,

said control device starting said internal combustion engine in said first mode when vehicle power exceeds a first threshold value, and starting said internal combustion engine in said second mode when the vehicle power exceeds a second threshold value,

said first threshold value being larger than said second threshold value, and

said control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.

5. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device

switching between a first mode in which an operation of said internal combustion engine for maintaining a state of charge indicating a charging state of said power storage device is not performed, and a second mode in which said internal combustion engine is operated to control said state of charge to fall within a predetermined range,

said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,

said control device stopping said internal combustion engine in said first mode when vehicle power falls below a first threshold value, and stopping said internal combustion engine in said second mode when vehicle power falls below a second threshold value,

said first threshold value being larger than said second threshold value, and

said control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.

11. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device:

setting a running mode at a first mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs without maintaining a state of charge indicating a charging state of said power storage device until said state of charge is reduced to a predetermined threshold value, and switching said running mode to a second mode in which said state of charge is controlled to fall within a predetermined range when said state of charge reaches said predetermined threshold value,

said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,

said control device stopping said internal combustion engine in said first mode when vehicle power falls below a first threshold value, and stopping said internal combustion engine in said second mode when vehicle power falls below a second threshold value,

said first threshold value being larger than said second threshold value, and

said control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.

12. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device:

controlling switching of a running mode including a first mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs with at least said electric motor as a driving force source and a state of charge indicating a charging state of said power storage device becoming lower in accordance with increase of a running distance, and a second mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs with at least one of said internal combustion engine and said electric motor as the driving force source, and said state of charge is controlled to fall within a predetermined range,

said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,

said control device stopping said internal combustion engine in said first mode when vehicle power falls below a first threshold value, and stopping said internal combustion engine in said second mode when vehicle power falls below a second threshold value,

said first threshold value being larger than said second threshold value, and

said control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.

16. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device switching between a first mode and a second mode wherein the first mode is one where a state of charge transitions from a fully charged state to a lower, threshold value and the second mode is one where the state of charge is maintained near the threshold value;

said first and second modes each having a state where said internal combustion engine is operated and a state where said internal combustion engine is stopped,

said control device starting said internal combustion engine in said first mode including when an accelerator pedal is pressed fully by a driver, said control device increasing discharge allowable power of said power storage device when said internal combustion engine is stopped while in said first mode to a value larger than said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is stopped in said second mode.

17. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 16, said hybrid vehicle further including a charging device configured to receive supply of electric power from a power supply external to the vehicle to charge said power storage device,

wherein said control device sets a running mode at said first mode after said power storage device is charged by said charging device.

18. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 16, wherein said control device modifies said discharge allowable power at a predetermined rate in modification of said discharge allowable power.

19. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 18, wherein said control device maintains said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is started during modification of said discharge allowable power.

20. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 18, wherein said control device maintains said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is started at a time of switching a running mode.

21. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 18, wherein a modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power returns from an increased state is smaller than the modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power is increased.

22. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 18, wherein a modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power is increased is greater than the modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power returns from an increased state.

23. A hybrid vehicle comprising a control device defined in claim 16.

24. A control device for a hybrid vehicle,

said hybrid vehicle including

an internal combustion engine,

a power storage device capable of being charged and discharged, and

an electric motor receiving supply of electric power from said power storage device for generating vehicle driving force,

said control device controlling maximum output power of said power storage device such that, while the internal combustion engine is off, when a state of charge transitions from a fully charged state to a lower, threshold value, the maximum output power is increased to a value greater than when the state of charge is maintained near the threshold value.

25. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 24, said hybrid vehicle further including a charging device configured to receive supply of electric power from a power supply external to the vehicle to charge said power storage device,

wherein said control device sets a running mode at said first mode after said power storage device is charged by said charging device.

26. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 24, wherein said control device modifies said discharge allowable power at a predetermined rate in modification of said discharge allowable power.

27. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 26, wherein said control device maintains said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is started during modification of said discharge allowable power.

28. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 26, wherein said control device maintains said discharge allowable power when said internal combustion engine is started at a time of switching a running mode.

29. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 26, wherein a modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power returns from an increased state is smaller than the modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power is increased.

30. The control device for a hybrid vehicle according to claim 26, wherein a modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power is increased is greater than the modifying rate of said discharge allowable power when said discharge allowable power returns from an increased state.

31. A hybrid vehicle comprising a control device defined in claim 26.
