1. A method for remotely outputting audio in a display apparatus, the method comprising:

  • receiving broadcast content of the Audio/Visual (AV) data, over a first channel, comprising compressed video data and compressed audio data;

    decoding the AV data and outputting decompressed video data and decompressed audio data;

    receiving a command from a user to remotely output audio while the AV data is being output;

    stopping outputting decompressed audio data of the AV data and transmitting the compressed audio data and subtitle data relating to the compressed audio data to an external apparatus based on the command while the decompressed video data of the AV data over the first channel is being output at the display apparatus,wherein the subtitle data is displayed at the display apparatus while the subtitle data is being transmitted to the external apparatus, and wherein the AV data includes bilingual broadcast content, and the audio data is first audio data separated from bilingual audio data included in the AV data;

    displaying the subtitle data at the external apparatus; and

    further comprising;

    executing an electronic dictionary function at the external apparatus in response to an input command from the user which provides the electronic dictionary to the user; and

    looking up a meaning of a word from the displayed subtitle data at the external apparatus based on the electronic dictionary.
