1. An electro-activated polymer actuator device, comprising in combination,an electrolyte;
- a sealed outer housing holding the electrolyte, and formed of a flexible metalized polyethylene film material non-permeable by the electrolyte;
a semi-porous membrane material dividing the outer housing into a first space and a second space;
a polymer actuator material contained in a semi-porous housing in the first space;
a first electrode in contact with the polymer actuator material in the first space; and
a second electrode having a double layer capacitive layer coating formed of a carbon polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating layer in the second space, andwherein the sealed outer housing is provided with excess material to allow for expansion of the outer housing.
