1. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to generate haptic effects using an actuator, the generating comprising:

  • sending a haptic effect definition to the actuator to cause a haptic effect corresponding to the haptic effect definition to be played; and

    while the haptic effect is playing, processing the haptic effect definition, the processing comprising adjusting a force value of the haptic effect definition based on an estimate or measurement of a current state of the actuator.
