1. An isolation device, comprising:

  • a first semiconductor die;

    a periodic wave generator formed within the first semiconductor die, the periodic wave generator configured to generate a periodic wave signal having a frequency in accordance with a digital signal;

    a mixer configured to modulate the periodic wave signal in accordance with an analog signal into a modulated pulse signal such that the modulated pulse signal has an amplitude substantially representative of the analog signal;

    a second semiconductor die located adjacent to but electrically isolated from the first semiconductor die;

    a transmitter circuit formed within the first semiconductor die, the transmitter circuit configured to transmit the modulated pulse signal to the second semiconductor die;

    a receiver circuit formed within the second semiconductor die, the receiver circuit configured to receive the modulated pulse signal from the first semiconductor die;

    a frequency detector circuit formed within the second semiconductor die, the frequency detector circuit being coupled to the receiver circuit and configured to demodulate the modulated pulse signal so as to regenerate the digital signal; and

    an amplitude detection circuit formed within the second semiconductor die, the amplitude detection circuit configured to demodulate the modulated pulse signal so as to regenerate the analog signal.
