1. A surgical gas delivery device comprising:

  • a device housing supporting a computer-controlled control unit, the device housing including a compressor, a filter interface having a seat for receiving a filter cartridge connected to a multi-lumen tube set associated with at least one trocar device, and a pressure line for delivering pressurized gas from the compressor to the filter interface, the control unit including a regulator that measures pressure in the pressure line and detects whether the pressure line is open at the filter interface, which indicates that the filter cartridge that has been received in the seat of the filter interface is configured for use in a gaseous sealing mode of operation in which a gas sealed trocar device is connected to the filter cartridge by way of a three lumen tube set, or whether the pressure line is blocked at the filter interface, which indicates that the filter cartridge that has been received in the seat of the filter interface is configured for use in an insufflation and smoke evacuation mode of operation in which two mechanically sealed trocar devices are connected to the filter cartridge by way of a two lumen tube set.
